Mrs. Smith is thrilled to be both the elementary and middle school principal and brings with her a background in teaching, administration and child development.

After receiving a BS in Child Development and Elementary Teaching Credential from California Polytechnic University, she taught for several years in San Diego before she and her husband Scott became parents to their 3 wonderful children. Her family moved to Portland in 1991 where she completed a Masters at Western Seminary.

She served as Women’s Ministry Director at Lake Bible Church and Grace Chapel, functioning in the role of administrator and minister. Judi developed her skills and gifts as a leader and communicator.

She returned to teaching in 1999 and has spent the last 9 years in the classroom. She has served as Vice Principal at Horizon Christian School from 2006-2009 and has been a guest lecturer in churches, at retreats and ACSI.

Judi’s research and educational interests lie in the areas of multiple intelligences and teaching to children's strengths. She loves bringing life to learning and has a special gift for making students feel individually valued and esteemed.

She designed and initiated a curriculum centering on multiple intelligences for 4^th graders and most recently a talented and gifted program: "iSmart" - for every 5^th and 6^th grader at HCS.

Mrs. Smith is, and will continue to be, deeply invested in the spiritual growth and intellectual development of every child enrolled at this wonderful school.
